Gadzooks! 2013 Flew By on Supercharged Brooms

In other words, gadzooks..yikes… 2014 is here, the last year flew by so fast that even the witches had little time to cast spells, and today I have been at the same job at the same company for 4 years (a record).

I spent some time yesterday reviewing all my photos from 2013 and I have made some collages using Picasa (so easy…). When I look back over the whole year, I have been busier than I realized and travelled more than expected. With my masters beginning in less than a week, I am feeling excited about 2014.

Cats, kittens, geese, calves, lambs, goats, and a horse. Just some of the many animals that crossed my path (or bit me) this year.

Finland: Helsinki

This time last year we went on a weekend “cruise” to Finland, so I have to at least include it here although I did not have time to get a true taste of Finland. I will have to go back another time to properly explore the country and the people.

Chasing the Depression Tail

Just in case you are getting envious of my life because of what I have shown you…please remember that these are my strategies for survival, for getting through the never-ending depression cycles that plague and inspire me.

A dear friend just shared a great TED Talk by Andrew Solomon, Depression, the Secret We Share. This is why I do the things I do. Check it out.

  1. Nice presentation Amanda. You really have gotten around this past year. I enjoyed following your adventures then and appreciate the recollection as I find myself chained to my desk in the Helsinki version of the mid-western United States.
Four years with the same employer!? Congrats, really. There was a time when I thought 5 years was the best I could hope for but now I am coming up on 11 at this place – on track to beat my record 14 years at another.
I’m looking forward to viewing that TED talk (I am such a fan of those.) I was impressed when my 8-year-old Granddaughter said in conversation yesterday, “Have you ever heard of TED Talks? I saw one yesterday with the guy that invented the ‘Furby’, it was very good.” – There may yet be hope for our youth . . . lol :D Best wishes to you and yours for 2014

    • There is always hope for our youth..for our future..even in our darkest hours..(Someone must have said this at some point but I can only paraphrase). So wonderful to learn of a granddaughter in your life. She is lucky to have such a savvy grandpa!
